Crimestoppers

Let us Help You…Burn a Crook for Cash!

Parker County Crimestoppers is a non-profit crime prevention program established in 1981 by the Criminal Justice Division of the Governor’s Office. Crimestoppers was established by local police agencies to deter crime and pay for anonymous information that leads to the arrest or indictment of the person(s) involved in criminal activity. Crimestoppers obtains its funding through probation fees that are collected from convicted offenders from our local county and district courts.

Submit a Crime Tip

Anyone who has information leading to the arrest and indictment of the person or person(s) involved in any crime, call Parker County Crimestoppers at 817-599-5555 or 1-800-942-STOP.

Crimestoppers Program Information

The Crimestoppers program is run by a group of community volunteers that donate their time and energy to being an active part of the Board of Directors. The board members work with a local law enforcement coordinator to determine award amounts based on the crimes that are solved. Detective John Wright is the coordinator for Parker County Crimestoppers. Detective Wright gathers all of the tip information and formulates the data into a monthly report that is presented to a group of community board members. These board members vote monthly on reward amounts and issues that affect the continuance of this program. These board members play an integral role in making this program successful.

It Pays to Stop Crime

Crimestoppers pays out rewards for anonymous tips that are received by our hotline number. Each tip is evaluated and then forwarded to the proper investigating agency. Detective Wright is responsible for investigating each tip to validate the information given. Once a tip has been validated as good information, the receiving agency notifies the coordinator that they were able to obtain an arrest or indictment based on the information given. The coordinator validates the information given and then coordinates with the board to pay the anonymous caller. Each tip given by these callers may receive up to $1,000 for the information.

Privacy of Callers

All of the callers that call into the Crimestoppers Hotline may remain anonymous. They are given a tip number by the call taker and are referred to by that number alone. This tip number is how the agencies track the tips given by these callers. The goal of our program is to solve crimes and deter future crimes from occurring. Crimestoppers does not seek out the identity of these callers. Crimestoppers values the information given and will not release the identity or information of any caller that provides us with these clues.

Crimestoppers Advertisements
Parker County Crimestoppers has two areas in which they expand their publicity for critical cases:

  • Crime of the Week - a selected crime that usually results in substantial injury or loss of property. A $1,000 reward will be paid to any tipster that gives information helping local agencies solve the Crime of the Week.
  • Parker County’s Most Wanted - The Parker County’s Most Wanted Poster publicizes active warrants on fugitives from our area. Both advertisements create numerous tips for the program.

Tips Received

In 2006, Crimestoppers received over 170 anonymous tips that resulted in over 46 cases being cleared. These tips led to 46 arrests throughout Parker County. The program also paid out over $20,800 in tip rewards. These same tips helped Weatherford and Parker County law enforcement officials recover approximately $75,000 in stolen property and narcotics.
